Mount Blade Demo For Mace

book adaptation "The Eagle of the Ninth (Rosemary Sutcliff)

Hi,

and now I'm also my (for a longer time) last very relaxing weekend in a wonderful spa behind brought me. The work calls and of course my beloved world of literature. In the last few days has again done a lot and I'm glad to finally have something compiled to create my next progress report. This, however, I can save on for tomorrow. However, today I present to you a recent book adaptation, which so many have perceived yet not so one of those:

out of print edition from 1971

The Roman centurion (Centurion) Marcus has to Britain applied, because there, in the far north of the country, the legion of his father has disappeared without a trace. Not a single soldier has returned, and the field characters, Roman Eagle, no one has seen her. Marcus would like to find out what really happened at that time. A lot of activities, however, until he can finally begin the journey of discovery. Whether it will succeed in retrieving the Roman eagle? His British slave Esca anni shear accompanied him as a friend on this dangerous undertaking.

Paperback: 416 pages

KINO-TRAILER (Start: 03/03/2011)

Quite honestly, I love Rome. I love this culture and I enthusiastically made for hard, unvarnished stories such a time. At this point, I'm a real man and am so pleased with such exuberant theater events. "The Eagle of the Ninth Legion is therefore on my priority list at the top. First, because the trailer promises much (unfortunately also reveals much) and partly because I like a good movie like Centurion hope. I say as good although I am aware that Centurion was not a gold cap. But still a well-illustrated history with wonderful, truly amazing landscapes. More is not necessarily required for good cinema. Blockbuster there are truly enough already. : O)

updated on 08.03.2011 - movie review of taken review:

Marcus and Esca Channig with Tatum Bell and Jamie occupied almost ideal. Both meet the expectations of the reader and enter the beginning of the film perfectly and (almost) true to the book until the middle of the novel. From that point, however, the script deviates quite gruesome, on action and trimmed the relationship between Marcus and Esca from. Centers, which would not in itself was bad, but develop (even in German synchronization) and no real magic to convince not completely. The main points that Rosemary knew how to develop Sutcliff absent here in so many respects and will remain this film although worth (despite not a few weaknesses) for die-hard fans of this era, the novel, however (even for those which the film and want to close both its protagonists to the heart) have a must.

But since I am also a bookworm now, I shall not of course the novel by Rosemary Sutcliff can be missed. In keeping with the film presents a new edition of The Penguin Publishing, which is impressive too, with me like film covers not really sure. However, no alternatives are available (At least not current) and therefore will soon be reviewed this issue:

new edition in March 2011

Britain in the second century: Here in the north of the country disappeared some years ago the Ninth Legion of the Roman army, without a trace in mist - and with it the father of the young centurion Marcus. Driven by the urge to find out what happened at that time, embarks on a perilous journey Marcus - right into the insurgent-dominated tribes wilderness.

Can A Tootache Make Ear Hurt?

Joachim Masannek (02/28/2011)

interview with Joachim Masannek

Literatopia: Hi Joachim! Thank you for taking the time to answer a few questions. But please introduce yourself first of all to all readers. Who are you and what you write?

Joachim Masannek: know my name you already, and I write books and screenplays. The books are mostly read by children. But I do not think that there are children's books. For me there is no difference between stories for adults and stories for children. Besides, the children's specific issues, such as love, sex and violence, yet not so interested. What the adults but they do not necessarily have to have something ahead.

Literatopia: In November 2010 came the launch of your new children's book series "Honky Tonk Pirates" . How did you get the idea, you think up pirate adventure? And you like us a little about the content of tell "The Promised Land "?

Joachim Masannek: pirate films I've always liked, but they were turned over decades are no longer home.

as "Pirates of the Caribbean" was released, I was thrilled that it finally a new pirate movie was, and Captain Jack Sparrow I was so excited that I had staged Gonzo Gonzales Wilde Kerle two as his biggest fan. Then we have the Wild Things Are actors often wondered if we could make a pirate movie Wild Things, and if the guys would not be so quickly grown up and we had made a sixth part, it might have given such a film. Almost two years ago then the producer Thomas Peter Friedl came to me and asked me if I wanted to make a pirate movie. Since I have not said no, of course, and history has fallen cbj from Random House so much that they wanted to move a series of books.
In the Promised Land is about a boy who meets all the requirements to be a pirate. He lives in the wrong place at the wrong time and he has no cool name. But the irrepressible desire as a pirate, he has to live in freedom and he manages to make his dream come true.

Literatopia: What priorities and values you want to teach your young readers? Do you have some issues to the fore?

Joachim Masannek: Yes. First, it's all about fear. Often one thinks that it is the only person who fears something has one and does not dare to talk about it. One is ashamed, fear eats into itself and is doing as if it were not. In reality, however, often do not trust you then to do things you would like to do. And if you live for as long, you will end up even, therefore, often cowardly. But all people are scared and the most important is that you admit to himself and others that fear. Then you can overcome them.
Another issue is responsibility. There is not: oh, I've accidentally done if you this happens in football, the other still gets a free-kick, even if you wanted to foul him. You did it. If one has responsibilities. If you stand for the consequences one that calls for their own actions, and that makes a free and mature. In my stories there is always a question of how to grow up. Because that's the desire of every child ...
Literatopia: In April 2011 will appear the third volume " Back in hell" for cbj. The blurb says that it ends up in friends back Berlin. Can you tell us more?

Joachim Masannek: The third part deals with the ring of the widow of Chen, the wearer invincible and thus makes the best pirate in the world. But the best, only one be. So you can imagine how hard it is Honky Tonk Hannah, Will and hellhound Blind Black Soul whistle, the three largest derWelt Pirates fall to agree on who of them being the best and who can wear the ring. And of course there are dark forces who want to have the ring itself, to destroy the pirates. These dark forces are from Berlin. Oh, and finally, the big secret is out where Hannah is who she really is and has what hell they made a pact. Like This Will not secret at all. I can tell you.

Literatopia: become famous you are under including through the thirteen volumes of "Wild Things". Will you about the "Honky Tonk Pirates" tell as much detail?

Joachim Masannek: I currently have planned first six volumes. But the letter makes just such fun that it could also be more.

Literatopia: Keywords 3D film: To what extent are you involved as an author in the production? Can you say in the choice of the actors? And which actors embody in your eyes, Hannah and Will?

Joachim Masannek: I am not just an author but also a director. And as I've done with the Wild Things Are film director, I do this at the Honky Tonk Pirates too. The actors I look so out of here, along with producer.

Literatopia: was launched in autumn 2010 the casting. Is it from your site to report something? Maybe even a non-binding, when "Honky Tonk Pirates" will be shown in German cinemas?

Joachim Masannek: No. This can not tell with such a film is expensive. The film cost 15 million euros or more, and with such a sum can never tell when he is fully funded.

General

Literatopia: What would you tell interested readers about the wild football guys do not yet familiar with this series? Is there something specific in your eyes, that these books and their film to be what they are?

Joachim Masannek: The Savages has existed in reality. None of the figures and invented many of the adventures really happened. My sons Marlon and Leon, who play in the movies Max and Mark, have the name, the jerseys and logo for their team came up and I had the luck and the honor for six years may be their coach.

Literatopia: What characteristics in your eyes from a children's and youth book? Do you feel certain things to be absolutely unsuitable or are you of the opinion that the package simply decide on what topics you can expect really?

Joachim Masannek: I've already said it for me there is no difference between children and adult books. I always tell my stories as if I tell it to adults. I take the kids as seriously as I do an adult would take seriously. Of course there are issues and stories that should be read only if one is larger, just as one can indeed do not yet six years old to drive. But in contrast to those topics of interest to license the younger children usually do not know. 10 year old boy who finds it as great to read over the history smooch?

Literatopia: servants you get inspired you to write some real events around you? Do some of your characters even models in real life? Or you tried to separate reality and fantasy strictly?

Joachim Masannek: The Savages were it in reality. I've already said. And the model for Honky Tonk Hannah is like my friend Michelle. I have always inspired people who tell me to invent characters for my stories. I'm learning a lot here by my sons, Marlon and Leon.

Literatopia: Also this year you will be back to see different readings. Are you still excited enthusiasm for such opportunities to others for your book, or is it already routine? Do you remember a certain reading in particular?

Joachim Masannek: No. I'm always afraid that the listeners do not like my story. I also need some more time to get a new book that I have just completed, to like. There are a lot of fond memories of readings. Since many children I would do wrong if I would emphasize one or the other. One thing I just want to tell. In my last book tour, a girl has for her class thanked me that I have come. Then she asked me later if I remember the letter, the parents have written to me years ago. They have a daughter who has leukemia and she took courage to defeat this disease, in which she told her that the red blood cells fight in their savage than the guys against the white, the invincible winner. Well, this girl had it and she would have been really healthy.

Literatopia: When did you used for the first time for spring? Even in early childhood or have you discovered the literature relatively late for you?

Joachim Masannek: I wrote love poems and lyrics. It started with thirteen. The first script I wrote during my studies at the film school and my first book was Leon, slalom dribbling, Volume 1 of the Savages.

Literatopia: write where and when you like? Do you need a certain environment to get in the mood, or could break the world around you while you are deeply focused the keys to glow?

Joachim Masannek: I write anywhere, then I really forget what happened to me. Unless I find it not one time. Then I need a rest. Otherwise, I like when people write about me, because writing is such a lonely business, that I could not otherwise endure so easy.

Literatopia: talent or craft? What do you think about writing and what one must do as a writer in your opinion especially if they are to attract the reader do?

Joachim Masannek: letter is 90 percent of discipline and hard work. Many talents, most believe they have just happened to write as often as in the rapture and of itself. It is hard but we fitness training for a football player. The football game may even enjoy it when the book is finished, and I like the readers.

Literatopia: Have you literary role models? Is there an author / a writer, you've been particularly impressed you? And what are you looking forward particularly for pre-2011?

Joachim Masannek: I liked the first Harry Potter books. I like Astrid Lindgren, Arnulf Zittelmann and Hans Otto Meisner. But as I write so much, I barely read themselves

Literatopia: What can we expect in the near and distant future from you? Have you something concrete in planning or you still waiting on a particular inspiration?

Joachim Masannek: So the time I write a script for a movie I'll probably turn this summer. Then I write a new version of the screenplay for Honky Tonk Pirates. I'm writing the fourth novel in the Pirates series of books and very likely come next spring again out new Wild Things Are books. Yes, and then there's still my favorite project "Wild Night", where I continue to work again and again and with my friend and producer Michael Coldewey and I plan very much.

Literatopia: Thank you for the interview, Joachim!

Moonshine - City of Darkness (Alaya Johnson)

Knaur (August 2010)
paperback, gatefold
Pages: 425, 9,95 EUR [D]
ISBN: 978-3-426-50716-2

Genre: Dark Fantasy

blurb

New York in the Roaring Twenties: Never before has so boisterous as the night life in the jazz clubs and bars illegal. But the city also has a dark side: The crime is flourishing, the weak are exploited - Guests, immigrants and ... vampires! Only the brave Zephyr Hollis fighting for the right of these disadvantaged groups. This brings in considerable difficulty, however, because they do not only get dealing with a dangerous transition from child-vampires and a power-hungry drug lord, but also made with the mysterious Amir ...

review

Alaya Johnson graduated in East Asian languages and culture at Columbia University. After long stays in Japan, she now works in New York and has a big weakness for exotic food and fantastic but also of historical literature. With Moonshine - city of darkness she presents her first novel, published in German.

>> Aileen seemed to have fainted, although she giggled now and still on the counter. I leaned forward and rested my head on Amir's pretty impressive from shoulder, while I was fishing in his pocket. \u0026lt;\u0026lt;

Zephyr Hollis uses her strengths for the most vulnerable. But that was not always so. Formerly persecuted and chased her vampires, today they tried to help where they can. And to understand. As was bitten one night a little boy, Zephyr saves him and soon not only the jinn Amir at the neck but a new, unwelcome her job. It should help a criminal to take, if need be bring it to the track. But the Zephyr has renounced violence. An oath, the Amir may cost his life ...

"Sensual and exciting. Mysterious and strange. " Alaya Johnson's debut so many qualities attributed to that can not deny it. For in fact offers Moonshine - city of darkness follow a reading experience of a special kind, no doubt, some sensual descriptions and no less interesting to be transported into the world of the author to please their taste for exotic presentations understands. Alaya Johnson skillfully portrays the activities of its protagonist at the beginning like a pure ray of sunlight a swathe through the Darkness draws. She is a teacher. It defends the poor and weak. It supplies vampires with blood and she takes part in various charity events. Original acts here the concept of the different layers of New York to work out and place the vampire in the sediment of this exotic barrel. They are shunned, exploited and - when turned too soon - brought down. Things, the Zephyr Hollis (formerly himself a Defender) never intend to do it again. One project, which soon gets out by Amir at risk. An inscrutable man searching for help and an ally against the most powerful drug lord in the city.

Zephyr Amir and harmony well from the beginning with each other. Their love affair is acting slowly and quietly told, but also touching and very soon becomes clear that Amir's life is in hands Zephyrs. Alaya Johnson said this development and also the entire novel from the personal perspective of its protagonist and quite credible case can be put off at any time. She describes to detail New York. Describes cabs, old streets and dark dives as well thought out, as the policy pursued, the vampires to suppress possible with a heavy hand. But not only crazed bloodsuckers like Turn Boys or heavy labor, such as the friendly Giuseppe shape this novel. Amir as jinn know well that certain something to offer and has an oriental flavor which is understood to seduce many a woman's heart. Yet the love story remains for the time being too slow and is apparently only intensified in the succeeding volumes. city of darkness appears mainly on the various introductions of various details of profound focus. All well and good, no question. But feminine yet to women's rights and a little bit at certain points. Thickness friendships and extravagant research shape the course of this novel, which unfortunately is always a bit lengthy. Too bad. The future will show what Alaya Johnson from this foundation can still carve. Potential for something extraordinary is available without any doubt, but it fails because of the mediocrity of the action that does not necessarily know how to captivate.

Conclusion

With Moonshine - city of darkness Alaya Johnson presents a novel that can read well and back to the interesting approaches to the fore understand. Profound and substantial, but still provided with lengths, the author tells about the search of a woman who counts himself to the class of do-gooders. Colorful, original, yet only limited captivating for readers which is a classic entertaining dark fantasy novel expected.

to the event as:
Nice people, nice atmosphere, I invited a state party chairman, so I have intimate conversation in between and then gave me the "Mappus Show" (inspired by a poster of the S 21 enemies):
But thought in front of me various securities, which they must position themselves in front of me that I would rather see their Mappus *** what, for some critics in the room no difference, but for me, as not to ***- fixed (which in Heidelberg - particularly in press circles - not typical) is very good.
So I got up demonstrative, began to speak as undersecretary, and left the room.
An insult - but I was pissed.
Outside the door, then pleasure I smoked a cigarette and bitching around, what is that and so (without details that line about "I am not come to well-trained to see Aer *** ..." and so on). After I went

a criticism that was it, the rest as I said you could have largely stood.
middle of it then rolled out a banner young people, what would probably constitute criticism against poverty - but quietly and without stress. Mappus responded similarly to Westerwelle at Twelfth meeting, but with quiet undertones that were interesting.
The action group then left the room shortly after, quiet and civilized.
Would Mappus less Merkel course, and would be at S 21 more ready to talk, it would be a similar fate appear spared probably because the ground is now the weak point in the formation of the CDU times, and the series beyond using wa political opponents obvious.

But that's life in the little (except a certain social Dedicated ) are 100% good, had not written the Union S 21 on their flags, they would be almost unbeatable - but in such a lame leg dragging behind .. .

The Witch Of Blackbird Pond Movie Release Date

novelty: The Silence of the Jan Karski (Yannick Haenel)

H oday I am again I stumbled across a great idea for pre-order values. As a reader of several novels about Jews, the German Empire, or on Russia's Stalin, I do not care only for such recycled light fiction ( " Child 44 " or " The commander and the girl " ) but for fate reports, or other literary work-ups that bring me closer to some points of view of these times. Therefore, I am pleased that next month "The Silence of the Jan Karski" of Yannick Haenel will appear at Rowohlt:

Jan Karski, courier of the Polish resistance, should tell the world what he knew about the extermination of Jews. But nobody wanted to hear his message. "Wanted to stop the Holocaust" The man who, long after the war sank into silence. Yannick Haenel Karski is now a fictional, own, touching voice.

About the Author
Yannick Haenel, born 1967, lives in Paris. He works for the magazine Ligne de risque, which he founded with other writers. 2008-09 he was a fellow at the Villa Medici in Rome, where the silence of the Jan Karski was born. The novel was in France for many weeks on the bestseller list and is translated into 15 languages. Yannick Haenel was honored with several awards, including the Prix FNAC and the Prix Interallié.

100 Grams Of Rice And Chapati Calories

Strasse ins Licht am Ende des Tunnels

By Michael Gurtner / Berner Zeitung

Good riddance: Once hailed his debut with the dance music Messiah, Mike Skinner, now adopted by his project, The Streets. "Computers and Blues" is a swan song, which once touched powerful, sometimes belonging annoying - and with the coming of the British summer festival to the belts.

topelement

"The Streets is the future of dance music." (Music magazine "New Musical Express", 2002)

"I had enough of The Streets. Had" (Mike Skinner, The Streets , 2008).

Six years lie between these two Statements. Six years, was hailed in which Michael Geoffrey Skinner from the unknown, pale-faced young man to dance music Messiah. In which he first earned praise from critics - and then had to put their beatings, as he his trademark realistic stories about the lifestyle of British youth, replaced for his third album with reflections on that celebrity. Six years in which Mike Skinner four plates placed in the top ten of the British album charts. And at some point for the now 32-year-old from Birmingham was clear: The Streets is a dead end. So he decided to take one last Streets album. "It \u0026lt;computer and Blues> means and it is about the dance and trash-talk, "announced Skinner.

the pulse of his generation

course, this is less than half the truth. Mike Skinner had indeed always been a big mouth, he finally became world famous with his brash chant. But there was always more than just hot air, as they produce too many rappers with fondness. Mike Skinner does not talk trash. Mike Skinner has to say. On his stupendous debut "Original Pirate Material", he explained about UK garage beats between the sensibilities of his generation, "Too Much Brandy" and failed relationships ("It's Too Late"). The cover of the first album graced an anonymous suburban block with a single lit windows - a symbol of the uniformity of everyday life and the desire to escape from it. On the new album takes on the last Briton to the thread: This time the building is a little fancier, but no less anonymous. Only two windows are illuminated in red, behind one is a lonely person.

pixels on the ultrasound image

Everything more or less as before, then? Not at all. Although relationships still play an important role - for example in the Facebook romance "OMG." But there are personal experiences added in the last few years that have influenced Mike Skinner sustainable. The most impressive and most memorable in the song "blip on a screen," an ode to his unborn child. This can only be seen as "100 pixels on an ultrasound image" - brood, leaving the father but already, what will be one day out of it. As a touching melancholy creeps to hip-hop beats and chanting - and the listener is weak. Wow! "Trying to Kill Me" tells the story of Skinner's fight against the Chronic fatigue syndrome that struck him in 2009: "For this chronic fatigue , there's no tonic it seems" ("For these chronic fatigue It seems "to be no tonic), the 32-year-old rhymes. It is the most intimate and best moments of "Computers and Blues." Quite different to the CD launch with Computergefiepe, brass samples and slow beats, "Inside Outside" is sketchy, is repetitive to boredom.

annoying and wildly

Worse "Roof of Your Car" drags with Autotune vocal distortions on the nerves. Conciliatory vote in favor of the disco grooves and witty verses of "Puzzled by People" ("You can not google the solutions to people's feelings") and the electric guitar riffs in the frenetic "Going Through Hell," where Mike Skinner asserts: "At the end of the tunnel is always light. "This also applies to the end of the Streets. And after the last tour, which takes him to the belts in July Festival, Skinner is free to explore new roads. It will be interesting.

Pain In Last Drop Of Urine

stick: Literature decisions

Hi,

this time I've I called a baton picked . Simply because I individual topics of interest and sometimes absolutely remarkable find. The developments in recent years have shaped the industry. Increasing use of the Internet, the existence of small traders more difficult. I would like emphasized, provided us the small but fine bookstores something is located - - This is the highest point of awareness. Otherwise I was pleased to be able to write about each question. I have already found equally interesting answers to these questions at Lucian , Colliding Worlds , stefanie Emmy , cat book and read what I wish for this stick - if I may - at Fried moose if it believes it can find time for some answers. : O)

ebunden G or paperback?
I prefer like the bound editions of several novels, but has, like so many other readers pay attention to the price. Although I buy really effectively just by my ability to get almost every review copy, I would rather a few books, but then specifically looking even after so many bargains. Last, I grabbed my "The transition " of Justin Cronin at seven euros. Since buying also makes the same fun again.

pocket books themselves are often a joy to me as well. Sometimes because they have to be - because we are honest, many good books are usually only in English in hardcover or not printed as such - and sometimes because any series I'd like to have a look on the shelf. Also nice to watch: The often very stable middle gatefold or even the new, often beautiful Soft-Hard-Cover as " Jasmyn " of Alex Bell the case.

A mazon or bookstore?
I think as a supporter of this industry should and should not necessarily abandon the purchase at the dealer. Amazon offers a great opportunity to leave now and then to send something, or quickly search for something specific. The dealer, however - unfortunately, many small bookshops out of the market - but also takes its sales. Smaller shops are to be preferred, if nearby, can still offer really good advice.

L esezeichen or dog-ear?
This is completely different for me. Each time I use mostly hardcover a bookmark, for making these books in one ear, would not like it. Pocket Books, however, are often like the victim of small twisting. Mostly when I would like to remember certain pages and I can look up quickly.

O rdnen disordered by author, title, or?
now I order very carefully by publisher and date of the respective size of the books. I would like an overview of the publishing programs and priorities of the Publisher and I manage to keep this kind of very very good.

ected B , sell or throw away?
I keep all my books read and collect them on the shelf. Sale would not come to my mind, and I can not tell exactly why. Let me think. - Basically, I orient myself to the following statement . "Owning a good book you have to" I try to win every book something positive and then my behavior is probably not the books by themselves, I guess I'll give you friends with interest further. That I do not disturb me.

S chutzumschlag keep or discard?
The dust jacket is for me to like the pages of the hardcover book. It is treated with care and not in reading declined. Especially the cover art would be very biased in bound books and I enjoy the sometimes colorful designs very.

K urzgeschichte or novel?
I like to read longer stories, mainly because I believe that characters can develop best when they ascribes to them the necessary time. Short stories but also in between their appeal. As administrator of a forum I read every week at least once a story that I - if I have time - can also comment on you. Meanwhile, I've learned to appreciate both and look forward to many a short story collection on my shelf. Above all " The Starter " by David Benioff .

A ufhören when one is tired or if the chapter is over?
I try to read carefully what can succeed me if I leave my concentration. Accordingly, I put the book down. Anything else would speak again of my attitude, possible to browse with open eyes.

" D he was dark and stormy night" or "Once upon a time"?
as the beginning of a novel? There is clearly the first option. Fairy I do not prefer. He prefers dark and stormy nights, or discharges. But of course I can also understand that you can get something off the second variant. My last book, has thus started was, incidentally " Ash " by Malinda Lo . Can I recommend, if not in their entirety.

K aufentscheidung: bestseller list, review, recommendation or browse?
are all things that are important. Basically, the interest of the target group is indeed guided solely by the presentation of the cover. Many publishing programs are therefore increasingly riding around on a specific design so I think it's twice as important to inform me before the purchase. I find a book browsing, I use my phone for and suggest at least once after at the age ratings. Will I have detailed information I use reviews. Bestseller lists of personal interest as a reader, not, but of course their right to exist. I leave it to me especially from like-minded avid readers, of course, always liked a particular book.

G eschlossenes end or Cliffhanger?
Completed ends have meaning and provide a sense a kind of satisfaction for the readers, for which he, in my opinion, has also paid. Chliffhanger are only interesting when they are used as stylistic devices and at the end of a book usually of little use, and therefore only there because the next volume will sell well. An absurdity. More can be said not to do so.

M orgens read, noon or night?
very different. I doubt that many readers think on this point at fixed times and allow themselves the luxury, just to read it whenever they want. Usually one has to take into account work, school and learning material. Those who do actually claim to have fixed times, perhaps precisely for this reason: Otherwise, probably just lack the time ...

E inzelband or series?
I see some value in both, for longer stories are mostly of the action even more intense her or have at least one other plausible justification. A single band in between is just wonderful and such a self-contained stories I find noteworthy, since it is usually more difficult but a fully completed novel to write. For series give the author much more time and ways to accommodate for a good action essential way stations. Favorite TV show, if such it can be called that: the blade novels Joe Abercrombie . has

L ieblingsbuch one of which still no one?
Never before has anyone heard it. But under the rather more obscure books I've read that I admire most "City of Thieves " by David Benioff . An author who have earned my opinion, much of the attention and will be heard in the ideal case even more.

L ieblingsbuch that you read last year?
addition was "City of Thieves " 's definitely " The Children of the Mist trilogy " of Brandon Sanderson . Who wants to know why proposes best here just after. I've allowed my enthusiasm for both novels devote a separate post. Just because they are particularly under all the specifics that I could read in the last year.

W HAT book are you reading now?
" The Assassin" by Joshua Palmatier . I'm short of his half and already captivated by the style of the author who emphasizes the smallest details without boring the reader. A talent like not many have it, I would think.

A o m pletely favorite book of all time?
I want me and my youth to remain faithful, although it is difficult precisely because of my reading experience, to name a favorite book of all time. Nevertheless, I say " Hagen of Tronje " of Wolfgang Hohlbein . A book that a bold idea and a wonderful hero has been in the forefront. Read value in my Eyes, no matter what one may think of Wolfgang Hohlbein as changing an automaton.

L ieblingsautoren?
In the genre of fantasy clearly Joe Abercrombie and Brandon Sanderson. Fiction would be David Benioff; Jeaniene Frost and Kresley Cole in Dark Fantasy, and Tom Rob Smith, author of Russian thriller. Marie together

A book that at the moment but is very well known, but apparently (yet) has not found a passionate followers. scrolled because yes, of course, I've now - - At first glance, I can at least think about why. Because the style is still a little too much by way of camera, little emotional. The future will show whether Sarah Blakley-Cartwright and David Leslie Johnson at least can boast of other qualities. I'm curious.

What Does Chalice Mean

Chicagoland Vampires - Fresh bitten (Chloe Neill)

Egmont Lyx (February 2011)
paperback, gatefold Pages: 432, 9,95 EUR [D] ISBN: 978-3-8025-8362-9 Genre: Dark Fantasy

blurb One night, the student is attacked Merit, nearly killed, and finally against her will turned into a vampire. You must now learn to live by the rules of the vampire world: go no sun, pointed pegs out of the way, drink blood - and to submit to the powerful vampire Ethan Sullivan. But it has merit no desire, even if the attractive Immortal duly put their feelings into turmoil ...

review

With Chicagoland-Vampires it now has another debut in the German book shelves made. For Cloe Neill grew up in the U.S. South, presented with fresh bitten the first novel of urban fantasy series that can be known ideas, strong characters and score quite a lot of femininity.

>> At first I wondered if it was my karma to be punished. I had always laughed at those fancy Vampire, and the cosmos had come up with a punishment that I look to one of them. Vampire. Predator. Initiator of one of the oldest vampire of the twelve houses of the United States. \u0026lt;\u0026lt;

Merit is a student, likes to wear jeans, does not like to be chic and despises vampires. For since revealed the bloodsuckers their existence in the world is not everything as it should be. The city has become uncertain and even the university, will be incurred before the Merit one night last. But Ethan Sullivan saves her life. A vampire. A feudal lord and soon Merits greatest, but seductive enemy.

"It is better for what one is hated, than for what it is to be loved" , Chloe Neill quoted at the beginning of her novel. A truth that the interested reader
(realistic and pretty packed)
bitten in many small portions of fresh
can explore
. Merits designed for relationship with their parents to be as complicated as their friendship with her roommate is perfect. The author does this look deep in their own way and shows how dangerous can be powerful and wealthy. But this fact is already aware of Merit and one of the reasons why they are neither one nor the other dreamed of. Nevertheless, everything is different than planned. For Merit is eventually bitten by a vampire and just saved it from another. Something that you basically did not like it because its creator Ethan is now associated to the gratitude and loyalty required. Forced him to swear an oath and accept his authority, they challenge him to have to ask soon for themselves how they can lead their lives on. For Merit has completely different dreams, and preening as being undervalued. And therefore they think it in any way to fulfill in her expectations.
Chloe Neill returns with her first volume of this series is a nice debut. One that she adorned with a little love, a little friendship, a few tribulations, a half-baked subplot (murders are enlighten)
two men, and of course, has the merit would like to see at her side. One begs formally therefore, the other simply devours them with his eyes. Quickly to the reader from page to page is clear that the existing ideas now are nothing new really. Instead, the author has concentrated on known it with a little joke, but also a good deal of seriousness blended. And so it is that fresh
bitten for a very easy to read and kept afloat, but also to the other now and then in a gentle manner is profound. Even so, some things can only return the reader shaking his head. How to buy it by the author, for example, simply does not like Ethan, she presents as an alleged tough guy. On the contrary. The four hundred year old vampire lord Cadogan is the house in its own way, just lovely, almost error-free. His aloofness from Cloe Neill is simply and obviously used to make him seem mysterious, which had only limited success. Nevertheless, it exerts a certain attraction to the reader and can conquer almost certainly many a woman's heart. Who at this point, however, hoping to read an erotic vampire novel, is wrong, because Chicagoland Vampires presents not exceedingly romantic and even passionate. This point is apparently time left and the reader is left ambiguous. First, one looks forward to read a somewhat moderate approach, on the other remains of this Book back but just by the absence of such delicacies behind many a wonderful novel. The next volumes will show whether Chloe Neill is right and can get us excited subsequently. Potential is clearly there. Because she writes entertaining and deceives it, at least in fresh
bitten
over many a shortcoming.

Conclusion with fresh bitten Chloe Neill presents a rather mediocre series opener, which means but to convince his own way. Love and eroticism in this volume, a soft (unfortunately)
detailed introduction to the world of these Author, which it can not offer much new, but has wonderful stretches of time. We can look forward to the next volume
( Forbidden bites / Q. 3.11) and its trends!

The whispers of the night (Peter V. Brett)

€ 16.00 [D]

blurb
fear reigns in the darkness, because dusk demons rise from the dark mists of the earth and prey upon all living things. The only recourse is to offer magic seal to hide behind which the people of the night, and the hope of a promised savior of mankind. be rolled over as the cities of the north by a vast army of desert warriors, led by Jardir, the self-appointed savior, all hope seems lost. But Jardir is not the only one who knows about the long forgotten battle Seal: Arlen, the tattooed man, has with him to settle even a deadly ...

review
Peter V. Brett studied English literature and art history and worked for ten years as a lecturer in medical literature, before he began to devote himself to the final letter of fantastic stories. His debut novel
Song of darkness

was celebrated worldwide by readers and critics as varied scale sensational success. After the small collection of painted scenes and short stories in
The Grand Bazaar is

The whispers of the night

his third, in German Language published book, the reader again to the heart of alternative and friends know how to enjoy fantasy.

>> The walls of Fort Rizon was a joke. Just ten feet high and only a foot thick, the defense system, which should protect the entire city, miserable as the bulwark of the most modest palace of a Damaji. The guard did not even need their shod with steel ladders, they jumped just high, stayed firmly on the edge of the tiny enclosure and swung at it. "People who are weak and lax, deserve to be defeated," said Hasik. Jardir grunted in agreement, but said nothing. \u0026lt;\u0026lt;

has the year 333 after the return is not changing the world. Still struggling Arlen, Leesha, and Rojer Jardir about defeating the demons that emerge in large numbers to the HORC. And still everyone does this on his own way while it is for the tattooed man from a village to travel to the village to teach the power of the forgotten Siegel, the healer Leesha more than herbalists Blossoms in the Valley of the Redeemer. In this case, is facing the young woman from month to month with ever more serious tasks, as Jardirs force from Krasia advances. A nation that has moved out to the green countries to conquer and to bring to them the necessary discipline and rigor. The only way they can, as Jardir believes in fighting for many years together side by side and free the country from all evil.

While Jardir step by step, each development must work hard for, is still trying his Rojer own art, to banish the demons with the help of music to teach. But without demonstrable success. And so the young juggler is becoming more aware that only together, combining to create a more peaceful world. But is the price of freedom is worth having to submit to the desert instead of warriors Krasia, the claim to be the savior of the known world in? Lange was the continuation of the now very known novel, The Song of the darkness coming. A time passed slowly, seems to have been worthwhile. Peter V. Brett because his debut is just as impressive as continued versatile. The author quickly draws the reader back into the action and this proves an almost wonderful feeling for long-range inclined reader will find again in the individual actions can be extravagant. His concept seems to be working for now, but loses much of the progress of the number of its momentum. But still captures the story of Arlen, Leesha, and Rojer Jardir once more, their backgrounds are again the focus of the viewer. Additionally, Peter V. Brett it now be done at last Muslim-sounding desert people to present in detail. It shows how wonderful but also hard having such a forum of culture and they certain weaknesses but also strengths. A fact that pleases. And just as we are so happy to finally read about Jardir can understand the bribe in the first volume the reader will have his life and history, as well as Arlen's in the song of the night, will now be rolled up from the start. You read through and over three hundred pages long what of his former friendship with Abban and what power he needed finally to face up to his brothers on the night and to be celebrated as a savior. An Arlen, Leesha and Rojer you waste time in this only a few ideas and finally is it so many readers perhaps also difficult to have to part with the Krasianern and their culture in order to follow the developments of the other characters. A break came as no surprise, however, is painful. For from one moment to the next, the reader is drawn again to a completely different page, which is again embracing, but also it tells lengthy. Although the Idea of such a long history to divide into those areas, in theory quite fascinating, but the implementation will be less enthusiastic, than could be expected. The reference appears in the first line of the structure of the overall framework to lie. In the end, will leave too much time. Too much too detailed and almost told to talk fluently. Peter V. Brett has indeed demonstrated in the first band to be a man of many words, but this time he appears in the idea of writing a history as long as possible to have wrong track. The whispers of the night in spite of this fact has but also some really wonderful and unique highlights. Especially the last third of white truly excited about where the author is able to lead the individual strands for a short time together. And the social confusions have their charms. Therefore, one experiences defeat (among others)
like a Muslim-sounding people a similar piece by piece to Christianity tried. Are sighted, new demons and shown new ways. How to finally two such different peoples closer together this is finally the big question, which usually refers to the third volume. At this point we may again be very tense. Somal, Peter V. Brett can be proud of it, in his undurchblickbar Intend to be.
style table is Peter V. Brett sovereign in its wake, and so it is hardly surprising that over one thousand pages back a lot of development, especially in character. Still, the individuals are at the forefront and have to see so few odds against. On this most fascinating remains Jardir He himself is one of the characters that make this book truly color. His will to a people and its ability to discipline themselves, just remarkable. At no time, he secretly wishes you a failure, despite the brutality brings the Krasia over the green country. And it is precisely this desire makes Whispers the night remarkable, given that the author achieves a wonderful gray area to create that convinces through and through with moral moments, it can be difficult to judge and understand not one of the two sides.

Conclusion

The whispers of the night
is a worthy successor, even if it has this second volume presented intoxicating. Peter V. Brett demonstrates depth, without showing fear of lengths, but the reading experience, unfortunately, always smaller. But still, this band is to be worth reading it. Especially for fans of a quiet, intelligent fantasy, beyond good and evil.
pros and cons
+ wonderful ideas + remarkable, intelligent fantasy + (sometimes escalating) detail
+ great, believable protagonists
+ many phrases + pleasant style - greater lengths in the central part - no on-going progress in the plot

Matures 50 Years In Panties

novelty: "An act of violence" (Ryan David Jahn)

U me again today, a book was intrigued, as I think a closer look may be worth. Ryan David Jahn
writes in his novel
"
An act of violence
"
freeze on a true story and takes the reader apparently before the doors of an apartment block, whose residents in cold fear of the violence that a young woman's life robbed. In my opinion, this book is especially interesting because it addresses a hot topic and Ryan David Jahn - as he says in the video - has labored through the to provide the context of this case in the depths of human focus.

On the way home from work Katrina Marino is in the early morning hours, the victim of a brutal attack. The attack takes place right outside their front door - and under the eyes of their neighbors, almost invariably remain idle. Everyone has to struggle with his own little drama. The 19-year-old Patrick about that is to be drafted into the army, but must provide for his ailing mother. Or Diane, who argues with her husband, because that is cheating. Katrina's cries you hear and see that happens outside their front door something terrible. Katrina feels the viewer and her looks and hopes to help. And it is fighting against death. "An act of violence" is based on a true story, the murder of Kitty Genovese, which caused worldwide headlines in 1964 and later received the circumstances, the term bystander effect in the criminal history.

Here is the short description the author Kornelia Busch :

In "Sick in the Head" I tried to help the reader through the perspective of the narrator gradually from the first (often false) impression of a more complex picture. People are complicated creatures, and nothing they do is, without any consequences. The experiences in the early years are formative for life. At any age can lead to such momentous experiences that a person gets out of mental balance and mentally ill. But even without traumatic experiences can occur mental illnesses caused by toxins, drugs, physical injury or disease. It may Basically to anyone. Who will be affected like that relatives and friends understand some extent at least as one may go there, the others suffer from depression. Unfortunately, hardly anyone experiences this empathy, worse still, the concerned members making accusations, others are turning away from him. Only when you yourself are sick, we understand the suffering of mental illness and hopes in this case even (unsuccessfully) to understand and care.

In the first volume of "sick in the head" deal first with the narrator "Camilla". The perspective of the neighborhood illustrates the many prejudices that arise whenever the outside world and from rumors "Hearsay" statements together tinkering to catastrophic events - in this case the suicide attempt - to understand and classify. This creates almost always wrong, usually even kontraporduktives image that the patient will meet in any way. This often begins with the first outwardly visible signs of severe mental illness to isolation. Sometimes it seems that way even be that the patients were already at the beginning of treatment completely left by others in the lurch. Since therapeutic work can sometimes be difficult and very stressful, lacking the support of friends and relatives in besonderm degree. Many affected cancel or therapeutic treatments are not working consistently enough with. Often this has to do with the fact that they have neither relatives nor friends who encourage them and motivate them. "Camilla" tells it herself, on what grounds they are "sick in the head" was and what the diagnosis meant for them. The truth is - even in their case - is very different than the picture that the public has made up rhymes.

to precisely these problems, namely the one-sided view, which regularly leads to a misunderstanding of and prejudice of people, it is also in the chapters on "Voices from the wrong frequency" and "flash back". Using the example of "Rita" and "Michael" I would like to describe two people who are viewed from the outside actually do not work particularly ill. Only upon closer inspection you can see the dangerous disease. However, is also shown in these two cases is that nothing is quite as it seems at first glance seem.

It's worth buying this book.

Not only because I know the author himself but because I hardly know a book written in the so openly is
